2016 Winter Ball Pitching & Catching Clinic

HORTONVILLE, Wis. — Dave Gassner, pitching instructor at XLR8 Sports Training, LLC, will once again be offering the Winter Ball Pitching & Catching Clinic at Hortonville High School on Saturday, March 26th, 2016. The camp is available to boys and girls ages 7-18 and will last from Noon to 3 p.m.. The cost of the camp is $55.

At the camp, the staff will: teach your son or daughter how to be a mechanically better pitcher & catcher, attain skills to maximize his or her velocity, and develop accuracy and confidence. XLR8 Sports Training, LLC will also teach participants about proper arm and body wellness and care.

Dave Gassner, director of the clinic, is a native of Hortonville. Gassner helped the Hortonville baseball team to one of their three state titles under Varsity Basketball Coach Don WIlliams. Gassner attended Purdue University and pitched for four years, helping the Boilers to three straight Big Ten Tournaments. He earned 1st Team All-Big Ten honors during his senior season. Gassner was selected in the 24th round fo the 2001 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2003, he was traded to the Minnesota Twins organization. Gassner earned his first MLB win against the Cleveland INdians in 2005. Currently, Gassner is teaching at Appleton West HIgh School and is a pitching instructor at XLR8 Sports Training, LLC.

Additional clinic staff includes Tim Harikkala, Austin Bilke, Dan Gassner, Tony Radichel, Tim Kohl, and MIke Draheim. Harikkala is a former Major League pitcher and played with Boston, Seattle, San Diego, Colorado, and the Chicago Cubs. Bilke was a pitcher at Beaver Dam High School and Purdue University. He signed with the Angels in 2002. Dan Gassner was a Hortonville graduate and pitcher at Carthage College. Dan is currently the head varsity coach at Xavier High School. Kohl, a graduate of Hortonville and UW-Stevens Point, is currently in his 19th year as head JV coach at Oshkosh West High School. Draheim is a graduate of UW-Oshkosh and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. He currently owns and operates XLR8 Sports Training located in Appleton, Wis.

Participants must bring along the attached registration form to the clinic. Participants without the form completed by a parent or guardian will not be allowed to participate in the clinic.
